Developer Note: This UI template simulates the layout required for PKCS#7 signing. Because handling private keys directly in a client browser exposes them to massive security risks, standard libraries like pdf-lib.js do not natively process digital certificates. To make this tab functional, this frontend data must be routed to a backend API (like Node.js or Python) capable of secure cryptographic signing.

Sign Document
Apply visual signatures to your files instantly inside your browser. Hook up the Digital ID tab to your backend API to process true cryptographic PKCS#12 signatures.
Visual Signatures — Use your touchscreen or mouse to draw a smooth signature that embeds directly onto the PDF surface.
Digital ID (Cryptographic) — True mathematical document sealing using a personal PFX/P12 certificate file to prove non-repudiation.
Smart Placement — No manual dragging. Tell the tool which corner or page to sign and it accurately calculates the position margins.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Visual and Digital Signatures?
A Visual Signature is an image or text stamped onto the PDF page, similar to signing a piece of paper with a pen. A Cryptographic Digital Signature uses a mathematical algorithm and a trusted certificate (like a .pfx file) to lock the document. If a mathematically signed document is altered in any way, the signature becomes invalid, proving tampering.
Are these signatures legally binding?
In many jurisdictions, a visual eSignature is sufficient for standard agreements and internal approvals. For highly regulated industries (like real estate or finance), a true cryptographic digital signature backed by a recognized Certificate Authority (CA) is often legally required.
Is my certificate password safe?
Because handling a private key (your .pfx file and password) entirely within a web browser is incredibly insecure, true digital signing systems route this data through an encrypted connection to a secure backend server where the mathematical signing occurs.
Can I apply a signature to every page?
Yes. In the Placement tab, change the "Apply To" dropdown to "All Pages". The visual signature stamp will be drawn on the designated corner of every single page in the document.
