Frequently Asked Questions
Does this tool reduce file size?
Cropping a PDF via standard methods (modifying the MediaBox/CropBox) simply tells PDF viewers to "hide" the content outside the box. It does not physically delete the hidden text or image data. Therefore, the file size will remain largely the same. To permanently delete data outside the crop box, you would need to completely rasterize (flatten) the document.
Will this apply to all pages in my document?
Yes. You set the visual crop area using the first page as a reference. The tool calculates those boundaries as percentages (e.g., 10% off the top, 5% off the sides) and applies that exact same percentage crop to every single page in your PDF document.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. All rendering (via PDF.js) and cropping logic (via PDF-lib.js) is executed entirely locally in your web browser. Your document never leaves your device, making this tool completely secure for confidential files.
Can I un-crop the downloaded file later?
Technically, yes. Because cropping a PDF modifies its structural bounding box rather than deleting raw data, advanced PDF editing software (like Adobe Acrobat Pro) can expand the CropBox back to its original size to reveal the hidden margins.
